Introduction

This is my journal of the experience I had during my exchange in Rome. The University where I study for the time being is called LUISS Guido Carli which is a small and private but very renown university in Italy. This is a story about history, food and Italian way of life. We'll see how a average Finn from a town of 50000 people can handle the former capital of the world for 4 months...

The coldness of Finland and the end of homesickness

Hey!

It has been over 3 weeks since I returned back to Finland. The holiday period was just so intense that I totally forgot to finish my blog.

In a way it was good to come back here just before Christmas (you know, Finnish Christmas is the best Christmas). I got fully charged up for the year 2015 after a very intense and enjoyable exchange period in amazing Rome. As I have been summing up my experience to some people I met in Rome, I have started to miss the people there the most. Rome is a very nice city, but I have come to realize that it is more a city for tourists, at least that is what I think.

But summing up, what I will miss about Italy is the mentality of the Italians, beautiful and historic buildings everywhere, the warmth, the speech, the cafe culture, the food and especially gelato.

For the first two weeks back home, I naturally missed Rome but it is a habit that after the experience you remember only the good sides of it. The chaos of the city, bad experiences with the landlord, oral exams, bad apartment, homesickness, those are the things that stayed in Rome. I think that I won't be going back to Rome anytime soon but rather, I would like to visit all the countries of the friends I made during my exchange.

Now I am beginning to be very grateful that I was able to come back to Finland. I really missed the nature, and actually the proper winter as well. But still, I have to admit that the exchange period (as usual) was one of the most interesting and greatest experiences in my life so far. Not only I managed to experience living in a completely different culture, I also began to value travelling more than ever. At the moment that is the thing I would wish to do right now...

Grazie Italia, per gli ultimi quattro mesi!

Im back...
